Xilinx® Spartan®-6 LX16 Evaluation Kit

The Xilinx Spartan-6 FPGA introduces significant enhancements in the low-power FPGA arena, with industry-leading features such as suspend and hibernate, combined with up to 60% less operating power compared to Spartan-3A. Utilizing Spartan-6, Avnet introduces the first-ever battery-powered Xilinx FPGA development board, the Xilinx Spartan-6 LX16 Evaluation Kit.

Texas Instruments provides the battery management devices and power regulation circuitry. TI's load switches selectively power only those circuits immediately necessary.

Enabling such a battery-powered system requires an ultra-low-power controller. Enter the Cypress PSoC® 3 Programmable System on Chip with embedded 8051. PSoC is a programmable device with programmable analog and digital peripherals, some of which control the regulation and load switches in the battery-powered system. One PSoC analog peripheral is a multi-plexed LCD drive unit. Connect this to a highly unique, customized LCD panel, and get a powerful differentiator for your next product.
