Avnet is offering web connectivity, servo motor control reference design for the Spartan®-6 LX9 FPGA MicroBoard. This design not only shows how easy it is to add the small Digilent Pmod™ expansion modules to the MicroBoard, but also provides excellent code examples enabling quicker prototyping and testing of timing-critical, hardware interfaces. Web Connectivity Servo Pmod Design The Web Connectivity Servo Control reference design demonstrates how you can use a standard web browser on a PC, tablet, or smart phone to control a servo motor and LEDs on a remote FPGA based system. Using the low-cost Spartan-6 LX9 MicroBoard, the reference design implements a MicroBlaze soft processor in the FPGA to run a web server. The MicroBlaze-based server connects to a remote PC or wireless hub via an Ethernet cable and allows users to control the servo position through a web browser based GUI. The GUI also provides remote control for the 4 LEDs on the MicroBoard as well as read-back status of 4 DIPs switches on the board. The FPGA design and server software included in the reference design provide an excellent starting point for any type of web-based data collection or control system.
