Freescale Semiconductor's Latest Flexis™ Microcontroller Families
Freescale recently introduced new members to its popular Flexis MCU line. These new devices provide ultra-low power, USB connectivity, advanced analog circuitry and ease-of-use to help designers meet strict standards for portable medical, as well as instrumentation or industrial control applications. They consist of both 8-bit S08 and 32-bit V1 ColdFire® microcontrollers that have a common set of peripherals and development tools to deliver the ultimate in migration flexibility. Like other USB microcontrollers from Freescale's Controller Continuum, these devices are supported by a complementary USB stack with MSD, HID, CDC and PHDC classes that can also be used for medical applications. Additionally, Freescale's MQX™ software enables real-time operating system (RTOS) functionality and a USB stack.
Flexis MM Product Line
The 32- bit MCF51MM256/128 and 8-bit MC9S08MM128/64/32 microcontrollers provide ultra-low-power operation, USB connectivity, graphic display support and unparalleled measurement accuracy, all in a single microcontroller, allowing device designers to create more fully featured products at a lower cost. They are ideal in any application requiring a significant amount of precision analog.
Flexis JE Product Line
The Flexis JE products offer the same features as the Flexis MM products, without the integrated Analog Front End. The 32-bit MCF51JE256/128 and 8-bit MC9S08JE128/64 microcontrollers provide ultra-low power operation, USB connectivity and high measurement accuracy, all in a single MCU. They integrate high-resolution ADC and DAC modules, a rich peripheral set including a USB 2.0 host/device/OTG controller, and multiple serial interfaces.
