The Avnet High-Speed Digital-to-Analog Converter Module is a complete D/A converter evaluation board in a half-module EXP format. The module contains the dual channel Texas Instruments DAC5682, 16-bit, 1 GSPS converter, along with the necessary analog filtering and signal conditioning circuits. System level clocking is greatly simplified with the on-board Texas Instruments CDCM7005 low noise clock synthesizer and VCXO.
This performance optimized add-on card is ideal for analog front ends in test equipment, wireless systems, and communication systems. The evaluation board plugs onto an EXP enabled FPGA baseboard for easy testing and prototyping of high speed DAC systems. Since the DAC EXP is in a half-module format, up to two DAC modules can be plugged into most EXP baseboards, yielding up to 4 DAC output channels. Since the DAC5682 uses a high-speed LVDS interface to the FPGA, some speed limitations may result when using the module with lower performing FPGA baseboards.
