
The Avnet Spartan®-6/OMAP-L1x™ Co-Processing Development Kit is a Targeted Design Platform (TDP) consisting of the Spartan-6 LX45T FPGA co-processing base board with one LogicPD OMAP-L1x SOM-M1 module. The growing demand for high performance processing and flexible interfaces is driving interest in new FPGA-based co-processing architectures. The Texas Instruments’ OMAP-L1x applications processor offers a powerful dual core system containing an ARM9 CPU and a fixed/floating point C674X class DSP. The Xilinx Spartan-6 LX45T brings a low power, high performance FPGA with 45,000 logic cells, 58 DSP slices and dedicated Gigabit serial transceivers. By combining the OMAP-L1x with a Spartan-6 FPGA, designers can leverage the benefits of these two powerful systems, realizing a performance and cost advantage for advanced designs. This kit provides designers with a proven platform for developing FPGA-based co-processing algorithms and systems, while leveraging reference designs and demonstrated tool flows.
